Tools for AI agents: MCP servers and data APIs

Ten focused data tools that developers and AI agents can call from code, n8n or any MCP client. Each one does one job, returns structured JSON with explicit reason codes and documents what it does not check.

All ten run as pay-per-result Apify Actors, with no subscription. Eight of the ten also ship a local stdio MCP server in their GitHub repository with at least one free tool; the AI Exposure Scanner and the Competitor Change Tracker do not, but you can call them through Apify MCP. The source code is open source under the MIT license.

What each tool does

Using the MCP servers with AI agents

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) lets an AI client such as Claude Desktop, Cursor or VS Code call external tools. Here is how the Fairquery MCP servers work, and where they stop.

  • 8 of the 10 tools have their own MCP server. It is a stdio server in the mcp/ folder of each GitHub repository. The Company Jobs Feed server is also on npm as @fairquery/company-jobs-feed-mcp; the others run from source (build the mcp/ folder with Node.js).
  • Free tools run on your machine. They need no account or token. Some make no network requests at all; others call only the public sources they describe, such as sec.gov, OSV.dev, an employer’s job board or the website you ask about.
  • Paid tools use your own Apify token. They run the matching Actor in your Apify account with your APIFY_TOKEN, and the run is billed there at the Store price. Without a token, a paid tool returns an error instead of running.
  • The other two are reachable through Apify MCP. The AI Exposure Scanner and the Competitor Change Tracker have no Fairquery MCP server, but any Apify Actor can be called through Apify MCP or the Apify API.

One install for four of them: the Agent Trust MCP server

The Agent Trust & Data Safety MCP server (@fairquery/agent-trust-mcp on npm, also in the official MCP Registry) bundles PII and secret redaction, email checks, sanctions screening and OSV lookups. 7 of its 12 tools are free; the paid ones call the LLM Data Guard, Email Validator, Sanctions Screener and OSV Actors with your own token. A minimal client config:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "fairquery": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@fairquery/agent-trust-mcp"]
    }
  }
}

MCP tools give an agent real capabilities. Review what a tool sends before you enable it, set a maximum cost per run for paid tools in Apify, and treat outputs as inputs to a decision, not the decision itself. See Security & Privacy for what each tool sends where.

Data APIs: calling the tools from code

Every tool is an Apify Actor, so you can call it from any language through the Apify API, or from n8n with the free Fairquery n8n templates. The Sanctions Screener, Email Validator and Website Tech, SEO & AI-Readiness tools are also on RapidAPI, with a free tier. Most guides include a free script you can run yourself.
